ANTIQUE FRENCH MEERSCHAUM NOTRE DAME RELIQUARY

I've never seen a carved meerschaum reliquary quite like this before.  The reliquary itself is inset into a frame with bronze decorative rivets.  Under the glass is a carved meerschaum Virgin Mary holding The Babe Jesus in her lap.  The total height is slightly over 3" tall so the convex glass reliquary is very tiny indeed.  An unique treasure soon to be part of an assemblage necklace.  So keep a weather eye on Metal Corset for its debut.

TINY FRENCH ANTIQUE MEERSCHAUM RELIQUARY EX VOTO OF SAINT JEAN FRANCOIS REGIS

This is the tiniest antique carved meerschaum reliquary ex voto I've seen, ever.

It is a tiny 1.81" tall.  The carving depicts Saint Jean-François Régis, a French Jesuit priest of the Society of Jesus.

The detail throughout this carving is absolutely astounding.  His entwined fingers are so detailed you can see fingernails.  A button on his shirt is visible.  He embraces a crucifix where you can see a nail in Jesus' right hand and Jesus' navel. 

The rear has handwritten script in French on a piece of very old paper.  It reads, "St Francois Regis-enterrer a La Lalouvesc," translated to the best of my ability to, "Saint Francois Regis-buried in Lalouvesc," or, "Saint Francois Regis-died in Lalouvesc." 

What a gem.

It's half of an original piece but still stunning in my estimation.

ANTIQUE FRENCH IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY EX VOTO RELIQUARY

Under domed glass, this one of a kind Immaculate Heart Of Mary reliquary ex voto depicts The Sacred Heart of Mary wrapped in a crown of roses symbolizing her purity which is then pierced by a sword  symbolizing her pain of the crucifixion.  It hails from the late 1800s.

WAXING POETIC

Newly listed to Metal Corset is this found object necklace.

It was made by combing various antique objects including an antique 1800s Society of Jesus Flaming Sacred Heart ex voto reliquary.

But the focal to this necklace is the antique German bisque doll. It is truly breathtaking and I have to admit, one of the most beautiful I've seen. It reminds me of the Venus de Milo.

ANTIQUE STERLING SILVER FILIGREE COLONIAL ROSARY

Newly listed to Metal Corset II is this stunning antique sterling silver filigree colonial rosary.  I believe the beads are moonstone as they do not appear to be mother of pearl which are more opaque.  Each bead is adorned, top and bottom, with a filigree cap.  The filigree rosary center has a two-sided 3-dimensional crown above an, "A" and "M" for Ave Maria.  The large filigree crucifix is gorgeous, with the Corpus Cristi in gold.  Measures 24".  Check it out!
