WAXING POETIC III

I've taken an antique porcelain doll head and soldered various antique rhinestone components to it. 

Then I suspended an Art Deco rhinestone watch pendant and attached an Art Deco rose camphor glass chain to make it into a assemblage necklace.

I love the way it turned out.  I hope you do as well....

GEORGIAN PALAIS DOUBLE SIDED WAX SEAL ETUI SET WITH ADDITIONAL DEVICES

I was fortunate to find additional double sided wax seal intaglio devices that fit my Georgian Palais etui set.

Now there are 16 double sided wax seal intaglio devices in all or 32 impressions total.  (I believe a full set consists of 24 double sided devices.....so eight more to go.)

The extra devices (duplicates) from the etui set will soon be listed to Metal Corset II.

ANTIQUE FRENCH WAX SEAL ETUI

This is a complete antique wax seal etui set containing 21 brass double sided wax seal impressions with sentiments (or mottos) in French, Italian and English.  Please continue below to view mottos.  My eyesight is not the best, so some are blank.  If anyone recognizes a motto not already listed, please contact me. 

The 21 wax seal matrices are stored inside an original brass tube which also functions as the stamp handle.  The wax seals are easily interchanged by unscrewing the tube top.

MEMENTO MORI SKULL AND CROSSBONES WITH TEMPUS FUGIT CARNELIAN INTAGLIO WAX SEAL FOB

This is a magnificent memento mori Georgian intaglio wax seal fob.  It has a finely carved carnelian matrix depicting a skull and crossbones with an hourglass (tempus fugit) indicating, "Time Is Short or Time Flees".

Latin words:
Memento:  translates to REMEMBER
Mori:  translates to DIE.

REMEMBER YOU MUST DIE.

The seal depicts a flying winged angel, or cherub, holding a wreath above two doves and an unbroken plinth or column topped with four hearts. The French motto above reads, "L'amitié Nous Unit" translated to "Friendship unites us."

GEORGIAN GOLD GILT DOUBLE SIDED WAX SEAL ETUI WITH MEMENTO MORI SKULL

Here's a fantastic and super rare antique Georgian gold gilt over sterling silver sentiment wax seal etui.

It contains several double sided brass wax seal impressions, with French, Italian and English sentiments.

The most exciting feature is the memento mori skull impression with the French sentiment above, "J'ai ete le suis, tu seras," translated to, "As you are, so once was I." 

Memento mori is a Latin phrase translated to "remember that you will die."  The phrase developed during the growth of Christianity, which emphasized Heaven, Hell, and salvation of the soul in the afterlife.

Feather with French motto toujours sincère (always sincere), lady in dress balancing on a tightrope with an umbrella, Italian motto il giusto il ver la libertà sospiro (the right to breathe free), flower and butterfly with the English motto the sweetness is my life, snail with French motto toujours chez moi (always with me), harp with French motto accord sans d'harmonie pas (agreement without harmony, sheep and wolf with French motto la raison du plus fort (the reason for the stronger), two roosters fighting with French motto à mort (to death), sealed envelope with French motto va ou voudrais être (will or would be), horse jumping fence with French motto l'obstacle recite mon ardeur (obstacle recite my ardor), devil figure fishing, fox chasing chicken up a tree with French motto fin contre fin (end against end), lion under net speaking to mouse with English motto Patience, man riding an elephant with French motto la raison fait ma force (the reason is my strength), French motto l'homme propose dieu dispose (man proposes god provides), Italian motto dopo come avanti (after as forward), leaf with English motto I change only in death, sun rising over hills with French motto je reviendrai (I will return).

GEORGIAN CHERUB GLASS WAX SEAL INTAGLIO WITH FRENCH MOTTO "JE ME FAIT UN JEU D'AGITER LES COEURS"

Here's another intriguing antique glass wax seal intaglio with an engraved depiction of a winged cherub, or cupid, spinning a two-hearted diabolo and the French motto, "JE ME FAIT UN JEU D'AGITER LES COEURS," which loosely translates to, "I make it a game to shake hearts."

A diabolo is an ancient yo-yo game developed in China during the 12th Century in which a spool is manipulated to spin while being suspended by string as seen in the 1812 illustration.

My interpretation of this intaglio is that cupid keeps lovers on their toes by shaking up or playing a game with their hearts.

Newly listed to Metal Corset II are these four beautiful French 1800s Flaming Sacred Heart ex voto reliquaries.  Three are rare petites measuring under 3" tall.  The fourth Society of Jesus ex voto is embellished with clear paste rhinestones.

ANTIQUE FRENCH RELIGIOUS CARVED MEERSCHAUM RELIQUARY EX VOTOS

From France are these four beautiful antique religious carved meerschaum under domed glass and brass reliquary ex votos.

They range from 1.97" to 2.64".

WAXING POETIC

Newly listed to Metal Corset is this found object necklace.

It was made by combing various antique objects including an antique 1800s Society of Jesus Flaming Sacred Heart ex voto reliquary.

But the focal to this necklace is the antique German bisque doll. It is truly breathtaking and I have to admit, one of the most beautiful I've seen. It reminds me of the Venus de Milo.

Two Souls As One

An antique 1800s carved French meerschaum reliquary of The Virgin Mary and The Child Jesus captures the loving bond between mother and child.

Heart stopping Picasso Czech glass and crystal beads combined with ethnic carved bone beads accentuate the brass frame of the reliquary and the carved meerschaum.

Beautiful down to the last detail. Definitely a one of a kind necklace.

Framed meerschaum measures 2.75". Chain measures 10.5" closed.

Note: There is no domed glass.

AVE MARIA FLAMING SACRED HEART MEDAL

I was very fortunate to find this rare Ave Maria medal in high relief.

Ave Maria holds a Flaming Sacred Heart pierced by a sword ,which I believe, symbolizes her pain of the crucifixion. The heart radiates heavenly grace.

I've never seen a medal solely dedicated to Ave Maria as this one or one as detailed.

It is incredible!

Antique Lace Holy Card

This is the most recent antique lace Holy card added to my collection. I love anything to do with Sacred Hearts, so this one is perfect.

Tiny Antique Holy Water Bottle And Filigree Ball Assemblage Necklace

This one of a kind assemblage necklace was created by combining a tiny antique Holy water bottle with a crown top and an image of Ave Maria from an antique lace Holy card.

Inside the bottle are foil back paste chaton rhinestones and vintage faux pearls.

I hung it from an antique silver plated filigree ball necklace long enough to slip over the head.

The front of the antique Holy water bottle has a cross and the words, "Holy, Water," in raised glass.

It's hard to photograph but the image is much clearer and crisper in person.
